Hey there everybody!
How are you doing? Does summer really feel like it is coming? Even with all this rain? I am so excited! Whoo hoo! National Aboriginal Day is next weekend, go out and shake your tail feathers (or maybe your Métis sashes) and celebrate the great and amazing people that we are as Aboriginals in Canada. If you are interested, there will be a competition pow wow at the Ex, events on Selkirk Ave, the Forks, Selkirk, MB and others I am sure… check it out and show how proud you are to be Anisinaabe, Ininew, Michif, Innu…!
Some scholarships which are coming up… Are you glad to be done filling out the monster that was the NAAF application? That is the biggest one of any application, if you can do that one, you can do any one!
1) Assembly of First Nations Heroes of Our Time- due June 21st

· must have been in program for at least 1 year already (not going into first year)
· can be in pre professional education for professional programs (i.e. medicine, social work, education)
· can apply for as many as eligible for (i.e. science and education)
· needs two letters of reference
· transcript or statement of marks
· 2 page essay
2) Rose Nolan Scholarship- Due June 30th

3) Native Women's Association of Canada Helen Bassett Memorial Scholarship- Due July 11

4) Abraham McPherson Memorial Award Due July 15th
not available electronically, but you can call and ask me for it… or call them and ask them for it… they will fax it to you as well if you have somewhere to get it.
They also said that the application should be available in any Band office or Education Authority

5) Jim Bourque Memorial Scholarship Due July 18th

6) Canada Post Aboriginal Education Due July 31st

· any Aboriginal student who had an interruption of at least 1 year in their education (i.e. quitting high school at any time and going back, in between high school and post secondary, during post secondary)
· 5 page essay
· 2 letters of recommendation
