Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation (MIT) is responsible for billions of dollars in infrastructure assets. Within MIT, Water Control and Structures is responsible for the effective stewardship of over 6,000 bridges, large diameter culverts and grade separation structures; 100 dams and flood control structures; 120 overhead sign structures; diversions and drainage networks; and dike systems throughout Manitoba. In recognition of the importance of these assets, the infrastructure renewal program has recently expanded to over $100 million per year.
To meet this challenge, we are currently seeking applications for the following positions (salary ranges noted as of March 15, 2008):
• Senior Bridge Inspection Engineer - EG 4 ($67,236 – $85,411 per year) – As a leader in the Branch, you will be responsible for the engineering inspection, condition assessment, and monitoring of structures within the highway and water control network and provide input into capital and annual program planning.
• Dam Safety (Geotechnical) Engineer - EG 4 ($67,236 – $85,411 per year) – As a senior specialist you will lead the engineering inspection, condition assessment, monitoring, analysis and design of all the components of the Provincial Water Control Infrastructure Network.
• Consultant Services Engineer - EG 4 ($67,236 – $85,411 per year) – As a leader in the Branch you will provide direction and leadership in the technical and administrative management of consulting engineers retained by the Department for the design and construction of structures.
• Senior Hydraulic Engineer - EG 4 ($67,236 – $85,411 per year) – As a senior specialist you will evaluate hydraulic conditions, conduct hydrologic investigations, complete hydraulic analysis and design of a variety of structures and assist with environmental assessments and mitigation measures.
• Senior Water Control Design Engineer - EG 4 ($67,236 – $85,411 per year) – As a senior specialist you will analyze, design and construct provincial drains, crossings and hydraulic structures and provide leadership and direction in the establishment of design standards and construction procedures and contract specifications.
• Structures Material and Standards Engineer - EG 4 ($67,236 – $85,411 per year) – As a leader in the Branch, you will develop standards and policies, research and evaluate all materials used in bridges and structures, and research the latest advances in the field of bridge engineering.
• Structures Project Engineers - EG 3 ($ 62,130 – $78,962 per year) – As a key position holder on the Design and Construction team you will be responsible for the contract administration of capital projects (including new construction, rehabilitation and preservation projects) and manage projects from the initial planning stage through preliminary design, detailed design and construction.
