MANITOBA'S minimum wage goes up 25 cents to $10.25 an hour on Monday, Family Services and Labour Minister Jennifer Howard said Friday. The increase was previously announced in the April budget. The minimum wage last increased by 50 cents to $10 per hour on Oct. 1, 2011. That followed an increase of 50 cents on Oct. 1, 2010. The province said the newest increase puts Manitoba just above the average Canadian minimum hourly wage. Seven other jurisdictions have announced increases in their minimum wage for 2012. The increases were recommended by the province's labour management review committee, which is made up of representatives from labour and business organizations. |
