Anishinabe Oway-Ishi is accepting nominations for the 2007 Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards (MAYAA). MAYAA is intended to recognize the achievements of Aboriginal youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who exhibit excellence, dedication, and leadership in their activities. Fourteen individuals will be selected and honoured at a gala Awards dinner the evening of October 18, 2007. This year’s tribute will also include a $1000.00 scholarship for the recipient in each of 14 Award categories:
- ACADEMIC Junior: The Manitoba Hydro Frank Wesley Jr. Award
- ACADEMIC Senior: The Manitoba Hydro Frank Wesley Jr. Award
- ATHLETIC Junior
- ATHLETIC Senior
- ARTISTIC – Visual
- ARTISTIC – Performance
- BUSINESS/ENTREPRENEURSHIP
- CULTURAL – Male
- CULTURAL – Female
- COMMUNITY/VOLUNTEERISM Junior
- COMMUNITY/VOLUNTEERISM Senior
- PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT Junior
- PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT Senior
- EMPLOYMENT IN A TRADITIONAL FIELD

Please note that the nominating body for youth outside the City of Winnipeg shall be responsible for travel and all other costs related to attending the Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards.
