Please find attached some information inviting nominations for the 2008 Fred Douglas Society Humanitarian Awards. The awards honour individuals who have enriched our community through their outstanding service to the elderly in the Province of Manitoba. There are three awards categories: The Love of Caring Award will be presented to an individual who, through his/her volunteerism and compassion shows a dedicated commitment to enhancing the lives of the elderly in the community. The Art of Caring Award will be presented to an individual who, through her/his professional career in the field has worked to provide outstanding programs for improving the lives of the elderly within Manitoba. The Learning by Caring Award will be presented to a student enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution who has consistently demonstrated compassion and humanitarianism in providing care to seniors. Deadline for nominations is March 3, 2008. The nomination details are in the attached package. We encourage nominations from the rural areas as well as the urban centers of Manitoba. I would like to invite you or your organization to nominate someone who you feel would be a great candidate for the fifth annual Humanitarian Awards. Please share the nomination information with others who may be interested as well. All nominees will be recognized on April 20th, 2008 at the Fred Douglas Society Humanitarian Awards Tea.
