Metis Child, Family and Community Services (MCFCS) is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and manage culturally appropriate community based child protection and support services for Metis, Non-Status and Inuit people in Manitoba. We are looking for people who have knowledge of and appreciation for Metis and Aboriginal culture, and possess the education and skills required for the following position.
Family Support Worker - Competition #2010-0726-FSW
The Family Support Worker will work in conjunction with the Resource Development Worker and assigned Social Workers to assess family needs and parent/child interaction in a variety of settings; teach a variety of skills to parents, e.g., budgeting, shopping, life skills, child care, infant stimulation, etc.; maintain a safe nurturing environment and escort parents and/or children to specified appointments. Provide intensive family preservation and reunification services to children and families; support family times. Documentation skills are critical. Hours worked are flexible, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of child development and behavior
Grade 12 is desirable
Child and Youth Care Diploma, Family Support Worker FAS/E Certificate and other related schooling and/or experience is an asset
Current CPR and Emergency First Aid and Non-violent Crisis Intervention are considered an asset
A valid Manitoba driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle are required for all positions.
