The Assistant Controller Financial Reporting plays a key role in the management and enhancement of the companys accounting, reporting and internal control systems as well as in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports for senior management.
Position:
Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
Managing the month-end and year-end close processes.
Reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.
Preparing the annual budget and quarterly business forecasts.
Modeling and forecasting business cash flows and key performance indicators.
Preparing financial statements and management reports.
Analyzing variances to prior year and budget.
Mentoring and supervising accounting staff.
Performing research of accounting and tax related topics relevant to the business.
Assisting the Controller in preparing financial information for key business and resource allocation decisions.
Reviewing internal controls and making recommendations for improvement.
Assisting the Controller in the development and execution of foreign currency hedging and other risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements:
A professional accounting designation, preferably a CA
5+ years experience in a Financial Management role
Strong technical abilities
Experience/exposure in corporate income tax
Effective communication skills
Experience with retailing environment would be considered an asset
