Content & Marketing Manager
The Board of Directors of Manitoba WorkinfoNET is seeking a dynamic person to help oversee our expanding network of websites and take the lead in marketing the organization.
Manitoba WorkinfoNET (MBWIN) Inc is a provincially incorporated, non-profit charitable organization. Manitoba WorkinfoNET is responsible for the development and maintenance of a web-based network of information resources that provide the public with free access to employment, career planning and education information. There are currently 5 web sites, with two others in development:

Position Description
Organization/Environment
The Content & Marketing Manager reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors of Manitoba WorkinfoNET. Manitoba WorkinfoNET is a member based non-profit organization, incorporated in the Province of Manitoba. Members of the Board of Directors are elected at the organization’s annual general meetings.
Manitoba WorkinfoNET is a virtual organization. There is no office space and all staff positions for Manitoba WorkinfoNET are home-based. In cooperation with Board Members, meetings are held at locations throughout the city.
Nature and Scope
Manitoba WorkinfoNET provides a major Internet service to the Manitoba (Canadian) public and to a number of specialized target groups, linking the providers and users of career, labour market, education and employment related information. Please see our sites for more information.
Responsibilities:
l Work with the Executive Director to oversee the development of Manitoba WorkinfoNET’s new web-based projects.
l Oversee the development of all content used by Manitoba WorkinfoNET’s websites.
l Research and write relevant material for all web-based projects using plain language principals.
l Provide support to users of MBWIN’s web based tools and websites.
l Deliver workshops and seminars to a variety of audiences.
l Assist in the development of the organizations marketing material.
l Assist in the maintenance of the organization’s existing network of content-driven websites.
l Work with MBWIN’s contractors to ensure the smooth operation of all web based tools and sites.
l Oversee the marketing of the organization to a variety of organizations, groups and potential members.
l Maintain the organization’s internal board of directors website.
l Prepare various reports.
l Attend promotional/marketing events.
l Gather and distribute relevant employment, career planning and education information for the organizations’ email distribution lists.
l Assist the Executive Director in researching and writing proposals.
l Maintain good relationships with MBWIN’s members.
l Encourage the use of MBWIN sites to key stakeholders, service providers and businesses.
l Rewrite website content as needed.
l Ensure MBWIN is linked properly with other partner websites.
l Assist in coordination of student placements and development of work plans.
l Other duties to be determined.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A post-secondary education with demonstrated work experience in the field of Communications, Marketing, Social Services, Career Planning, Learning and/or Employment.
- Excellent written communication skills and strong public speaking skills required.
-Superior knowledge of the internet, software (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and PowerPoint) and related technology.
-Experience writing for the web an asset.
-Knowledge of basic HTML and web design principals an asset.
- Ability to work in a non-traditional work environment
- Must have a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle as there may be some out-of-town travel.
- Preference will be given to individuals who have worked in the non-profit sector with a Board of Directors.
- Possess a sound knowledge of the Manitoba labour market and an established knowledge of learning institutions, employers and employment service providers including the provincial and federal government would be an asset.
- Must have a reliable personal computer with a high speed connection and the ability to work from home. There will be some remuneration for computer use and internet connection.
Salary:
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week). The salary range is $15.50 to $17.50 depending on experience.
Manitoba WorkinfoNET receives funding on an annual basis. Funding is currently in place until Oct 2010.
