Spirit of the North Point Douglas Women’s Centre
The North Point Douglas Women’s Centre was established to provide a central place to meet the needs of the women of North Point Douglas. Services reflect our commitment to women and demonstrate principles of respect, choice and opportunity for women. These apply to the structure of the Centre as well as to the way services are delivered. At the North Point Douglas Women’s Centre we work together, providing a welcoming and safe place for women to meet.
We value and respect that women
define the context of their lives, their families, their identities,
and their communities. We support the rights of women to be full and
equal members of society. We accept and endorse the principles of
personal
growth and development, opportunity and cooperation. We attempt to help
women recognize their power by validating each other’s feelings, ideas,
and experiences. We share knowledge and encourage growth and
self-awareness.
The goals of the Women’s Centre can best be achieved by maintaining good morale among staff and promoting their interests and well-being along with the interests and well-being of community women.
