The Future to Discover pilot project is a multi-year research project being conducted with support from the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation and in partnership with Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth, New Brunswick Education and high schools in Manitoba and New Brunswick.
The goal is to help policy-makers identify which types of programs targeted at students in grades 10 to 12 can be expected to produce the best results in terms of promoting access to post-secondary education from traditionally under-represented groups.
1,050 participants in Manitoba and 4,400 participants in New Brunswick are involved in the project.
This pilot project focuses on two barriers to post-secondary education:
• Lack of knowledge/misinformation regarding post-secondary study programs;
• Inadequate financial resources (in New Brunswick only).
The research design, recruitment process as well as results from the Early Implementation Report will be presented.
Registration is limited to 100 participants on a first come first serve basis.
