The City of
Winnipeg is currently accepting resumes to fill up to 2 permanent
positions for Body Repairer in our Transit Department.
The
Body Repairer works under the supervision of the Body Shop/Welding
Shop Supervisors and are responsible for performing damage and
corrosion repairs to Transit buses and equipment, fabricating vehicle
and equipment components from sheet metal and inspecting vehicle
interior and exterior fittings and performing repairs as required.
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Repair
and/or replacement of vehicle body parts and components.
-
Repair
and/or replacement of sheet metal and fibreglass panels.
-
Repair
of vehicle interior fittings such as passenger seat mounting frames,
stanchions, flooring, etc.
-
Repair
and/or replacement of automotive glass, such as windshields,
passenger windows and mirrors.
-
Bench
layout work for the manufacture of sheet metal vehicle and building
components and parts.
-
Performs
other related duties consistent with classification, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
High
School graduate or equivalent.
-
Certificate
Requirements (one of the following):
-
Journeyman
Motor Vehicle Body Repairer Certificate, recognized by the Province
of Manitoba or;
-
Journeyman
Sheet Metal Worker, recognized by the Province of Manitoba or;
-
AME
Certificate (aircraft maintenance engineer licence).
-
Must
have demonstrated acceptable safety, attendance and job performance
relevant to this position.
-
Must
possess a complete set of hand tools required for the position and
the knowledge to operate the hand tools and equipment required to
perform the work involved.
-
Must
be able to work efficiently with a minimum of supervision.
-
Must
be capable of understanding and following verbal and written
instructions. Also to be able to communicate and express ideas
clearly and concisely.
-
Demonstrated
ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers and
employees at all levels of the organization.
-
Must
have a Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing. Will be required
to attain Class 2 through in-house training, within a time frame
determined by management.
-
Must
be able to learn and operate the Plant & Equipment Division’s
Maintenance Information System (MMIS), within a time frame
determined by management.
-
Must
be able to perform the manual labour components of the work in this
classification.
-
Must
be able to work in an environment involving exposure to dust, noise,
extreme temperature/weather conditions and diesel exhaust fumes.
-
Demonstrated
ability to adhere to the requirements of Respectful Workplace
Standard.
