Industrial Mechanic Journeyman - 5 Year Term

We are seeking qualified individuals for three Industrial Mechanic Journeyman positions at the Great Falls Operations in
Great Falls, Manitoba.
Under the direction of the Mechanical Supervisor, Senior Mechanical Technician or delegate, you will perform maintenance,
installation, inspection and commissioning to all mechanical generation, transmission and auxiliary equipment and facilities.
As an Industrial Mechanic Journeyman, you will:
- Troubleshoot and perform mechanical maintenance on, turbines, governors, compressors, cranes, head gates and their
hoist equipment, sluice gates, pumps, motors, circuit breakers and other associated equipment, auxiliaries, air conditioning,
refrigeration, heat and vent systems and their controls under normal and emergency conditions.
- Ensure that all work carried out under your direction is of the highest quality, is completed within established timeframes
and complies with accepted and applicable standards.
- Provide leadership to motivate and instill a positive working environment.
- Actively participate in and support all safety, environmental and corporate rules, regulations and programs and ensure
that all are understood and adhered to by members of the work group under your direction.
- Report any incidents or situations that may be in violation of any safety, environmental and corporate rules, regulations
and programs to the Mechanical Supervisor or delegate.
- Be responsible for the proper use and care of test equipment, instruments and special tools
- Remain current with the development of new technologies.
- Be on standby to deal with problems arising outside normal working hours.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Manitoba Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic and two years experience as a Mechanical
Journeyman.
- Will be required to complete Manitoba Hydro's Training Program for Mechanical Technicians.
- Familiar with the use of measuring instruments, devices and interpretation of schematic and construction drawings.
- Thoroughly conversant with safe working practices including the use of protective cards, locking devices, etc.
- Possess a sound basic knowledge of the theory and operation of Hydraulic Generating Stations.
- Required to have a mechanical aptitude.
- Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position and work under adverse weather conditions, temperatures,
and under emergency conditions.
- Be familiar with, and adhere to, Federal and Provincial Regulations and practices related to WHMIS and the
Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Driver's Licence with appropriate classification.
